PLOT: The Hobbit movie based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien takes place decades prior to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It follows a young Bilbo Baggins as he journeys to Lonely Mountain to recover treasure that was stolen by the dragon Smaug.
